Smooth Interpolation Algorithm based on Navier Spline
for Image Morphing

Abstract
The warping of scattered data points is a problem that appears frequently in
science and engineering. The basic problem involves the construction of a
reasonable interpolation function, which goes through a set of scattered points.
In this paper, we propose a smooth image warping algorithm based on Navier
Interpolation Spline which constructs a map function constrained by a set of
corresponding feature points. A physical model for the deformation of elastic
materials motivates the Navier Spline. The proposed algorithm is efficient in
time complexity and smoothly interpolated morphed images, which only are
markedly small number of specified feature points. To generate the in between
images, we have described an efficient cross dissolve algorithm.
